5 Ways To Sparkle On New Year's Eve

The countdown to New Year’s Eve is on! Why not make a resolution to add some sparkle to your outfit? Here are 5 ways to shimmer as the clock strikes midnight.

Shoes: A great pair of shoes is the perfect way to add just a touch of shimmer to your New Year's Eve look. They pair perfectly with everything from a simple black dress to leather pants, and there are some great black options out there that will get you more bang for your buck. If you want to make more of a statement, opt for a color. Silver, gold and blue are all fab options. We would just suggest avoiding red, or wearing sparkle shoes them when you are rocking a full sequin dress. It is possible to wear too much of a good thing! Skirt: One of our favorite ways to ring in 2013 is a great skirt with a sequin accent. It’s totally festive, chic and subtle enough to wear time and time again. You can also decide how dressy you want the look to be.  For the big night, pair this skirt with a bright color for a pop. During the day, pair it with a casual tee shirt or sweater. You can even wear it through the winter with tights and blazers for work or other festive events (Below: Free People Sparkle and Stripe Skirt, $128)

For those of you who already have an outfit in mind but are looking for a way to add some New Year's glitz, try a statement necklace with some shimmer.  The larger size of this necklace combined with the bling of the beads will certainly make any outfit shine.  This type of necklace looks great with just about anything – a simple dress in any color, an all black ensemble or even jeans and a great top. This is a great option for those of you who do not usually do the whole bling thing. Dress: Let's be honest, in most places it is FREEZING on New Year's Eve. How many times have you been the girl in 20-degree weather literally shaking and shivering because you chose cute over practical?  If that sounds familiar, this year we have the answer to your style dilemma. The long sleeve sequin dress is the perfect combo of fashion and function.  Not only is this dress incredibly trendy and fun, it also has sleeves to get us through this frigid holiday. If you are feeling too covered, not to worry. Since there are sleeves to keep you warm, you can go a little shorter on the hemline to keep that cocktail feel.
