6 Beauty Products I Steal From My Husband

As a beauty editor, I’m lucky enough to sample some of the latest and greatest products out there. But every so often, a made-for-men product appears at my doorstep, which I happily pass along to my hubby. (And he happily accepts!)

Still, most of the time, said hubby scours through the booming number of grooming products out there to find the lotions, potions, and scrubs that work best for him. And once he finds something he likes, he tends to stick with it! (Interesting side note: He’s not alone! Research shows that men are more brand loyal than women. Who knew?)

Being a beauty junkie and all, I like to dip into some of the products on his side of the sink to see how they stack up. (It's research, after all!) Here are six that I’ve gotten my paws on, and will continue to reach for.

Kiehl's Facial Fuel Energizing Moisture Treatment ($25-$32.50): T (my husband) is such a ginormous fan of this moisturizer that even when 1/3 of the bottle is still left, he’ll run out to buy another. (I have to pat myself on the back, as I did introduce the line to him.)

And when I run out of my own daily lotion, it's a fantastic hydrator to use in a pinch. Plus, the light, “masculine” smell isn’t at all overpowering. (PS: The Facial Fuel Energizing Scrub is also an ahhh-mahhh-zing and re-energizing exfoliator.)

Shaveworks The Cool Fix ($25): This cooling blue gel is meant to soothe and smooth ingrown hairs, razor bumps, razor burn, and redness. But let’s face it, men aren’t the only ones dealing with daily shaving woes! That’s why I reach for this particular product when my skin needs to “take 5”. You can even use it under your arms and on the bikini area! (Warning: You may become addicted to using The Cool Fix…especially during the skin baring summer months. Don't say I didn't warn you!)

Menaji Face and Body Scrub ($30): Menaji Skincare touts itself as “skincare for the confident man,” and offers up everything from moisturizers and scrubs to concealers and anti-shine powders. The owner, Michele Probst, is a celebrity makeup artist with a bevy of A-list fans. What’s more? Her specialty is making those A-listers look younger without looking like they're under layers and layers of makeup.

I’m currently raving about Menaji’s Face and Body Scrub, which has taken up shop in the corner of our shower. It has a light, citrus-like smell that is delish, and the itty bitty exfoliators leave my skin feeling so soft it should be illegal. I’m going to go ahead and say that T and I will be sharing this tube equally. (Hope he doesn't mind!)

Head And Shoulders Green Apple Shampoo/Conditioner ($5.99-$6.99): OK. Hear me out. I know this product is considered “unisex,” but it's not often that I see women scooping this stuff up. In my opinion, that should change! Head and Shoulders not only has a fabulous, new Green Apple scent,  but it can even be used on permed and color-treated hair. It will help soothe the itchy, red scalp that summer can leave behind, and of course, it banishes dandruff. So rather than filling your favorite shampoo bottle up with water to eek out that very last drop of product, reach for this, instead. Heck, after one try, you may even want to use it full time!

Bumble and Bumble Sumotech ($26): First thing's first. This stuff isn't a "wax, paste, or creme" according to Bumble and Bumble, but a miracle concoction of all three. Whatever it is, T likes to use it to get his strands picture perfect. I like to use it to tame those wispy bangs around my face. It's super thick, so just a dab will do ya. Let it melt a bit in your hands, apply as needed, and those annoying flyaways will surely be put in their place!

C.O. Bigelow Mentha Lip Balm Stick No-Shine ($7.50): On the women’s side, C.O. Bigelow is famous for it’s cooling Mentha Lip Balm Sticks in any flavor you can imagine: Vanilla Mint, Cinnamint, Berry Bellini, Mint Julep…the list goes on and on. For the guys, there’s a no-frills Mentha Lip Balm Stick that doesn’t add any extra shine to your kisser. And for those no-nonsense times you need to kick those chapped lips to the curb, this stuff is perfect! Put a thick layer on before you step into a steamy shower for some mega-hydration once its time to reach for the towel!
