OK, we all know about organic food and environmentally-friendly buildings. Now, it’s time to pick up the pace and go eco-chic with what we wear. Recycling and repurposing doesn’t have to be drab, either. Take a look at our earth-friendly fashion finds:

Aluminum soda tops dazzle in the sunlight with San Francisco-based handbag company, Escama. This company makes handbags by hand crocheting used post-consumer recycled aluminum soda tabs and are the work of their partners, fair trade artisan collectives in Brazil. More about their story is available on video here. The artist who created the piece signs it, adding a simple yet personalized touch! Demand has increased greatly for Escama bags that they now have 65 artisans in over 30 countries around the world.

Habit, $18

Speaking of pop, how about your colorful nail polish this fall?

Habit claims to be the only nail polish in the US made with Myrrh extract, which naturally strengthens nails. Habit also claims to be cruelty-free and free of Toluene, Formaldehyde, Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP) and Camphor. Also, Habit uses bamboo overcap, which means less plastic, and their boxes are made from sustainably forested paperboard.

Luevo, $270

Luevo is an acronym form of the French word EVOLU meaning evolved. Luevo is a site that helps emerging fashion designers launch their next collections.  The site features designers that have at least one aspect of their business that matches their own values: eco, local, or ethical manufacturing. Check out Joeleen Torvick, a Minnesota-based designer who manufactures her products either in New Jersey or in Minnesota and has beautiful items that contain hand-woven silk/cotton blend fabrics made in India.
