Lexi Thompson, is a pro-- a golf pro. She's a member of the Ladies Professional Golf Association...and she's only 18! She may be young but she's also a pro at maintaining a healthy and fit lifestyle -   on and off the course. Amidst her busy schedule of training and tournaments, Thompson makes sure she gets her workouts in, and she gave GalTime her tips on staying fit!

Thompson became the youngest person ever to qualify for the U.S. Women’s Open in 2007 at the age of 12 and turned professional in June of 2010. At 16, Thompson won her first professional tournament at the 2011 Navistar LPGA Classic, making her the youngest winner in LPGA Tour history. And Thompson is not slowing down anytime soon---, racking up four top-10 finishes in 2012! Here’s what Thompson had to say about going the distance and keeping her energy levels up:

How has playing golf influenced your ability to maintain a healthy and fit lifestyle- on and off the course?

“Fitness plays a very big role in my life.  The physical act of playing golf and being out in the sun for 4-6 hours on the course takes a physical toll on you.  You have to be in shape both mentally and physically to get through the long days. Off the course, improving my fitness has made me feel a lot more confident with myself and my body.”

How do you stay fit and find the time to workout while traveling and competing?

“I try to stay balanced and focused by being consistent with my practice, workouts and eating habits whether I'm at home or on the road traveling for a tournament.  By maintaining a normal routine and schedule, I am able to maintain consistency with all facets of my life, which is critical for me to do because of the long stretches on the road.  But it's not all concentration and focus.  You always need to balance out your life with breaks away for fun and relaxation, so it's not a 24/7 grind.   Relaxing your body and mind is key for me.”

What is the best part about being a pro golf player?

“The best part about being a pro golf player is getting to travel to amazing places like Dubai, Australia, Ireland etc., and meet amazing people from these countries – and playing the best golf courses against the best golfers in the world. It's been my dream to play on Tour since I was very young,  and I'm so happy and grateful that I've been able to live my dream.”
