Spring Clean Your Love Life

Spring is right around the corner, and it is the perfect time to breathe some fresh air into your dating and love life. Consider it spring cleaning for matters of the heart! Here are three ways to spring forward, and create a fresh start when it comes to love.

1. Shake it off. Whether it's a slew of bad dates, a painful breakup or just overall frustration with dating (it happens!) now is the time to let it go. It's impossible to start fresh when you are holding on to the past. Letting it go doesn't mean that you live in a land of unicorns and rainbows where all men call like they say they will, it simply frees up precious space in your head and your heart to make room for the ones who will treat you right. The ones who are different than all the rest!

2. Date differently. If you're an online dater, use the change of seasons as inspiration to change up your online dating profile. Take a new picture in the sunlight-if you can find it yet-or take half an hour to finally fill in that “about me” section in detail like you've been putting off. Channel time and energy into your online dating profile and no doubt it will respond accordingly. This is especially important for those who are mature dating since taking that first step is the most intimidating. If you prefer to date in “the real world”, there are plenty of small changes that you can make. Instead of going to the same bars or restaurants as you always do, check out a new hot spot where you are anything but a regular. Take yourself out of your comfort zone and you might realize what you've been missing.

3. Take time for yourself. After being cooped up for the winter, many women find themselves on the go non-stop during the spring months. They want to make things happen, and to make things happen now includes finding a healthy relationship. It's great to have goals, but it's important to remember that love doesn't play by our rules and definitely won't abide by our schedule. If you burst out of the gate too fast when it comes to dating, it's likely you'll burn out or become frustrated with the dating experience. The best way to prevent this? Make time for yourself doing the things that fulfill you and make you happy...and don't include dating. Nurturing your hobbies will ultimately make you more attractive to the opposite sex because you'll always have something to talk about and bring to the table.
