Spring Into Fashion!

What to wear this spring

Spring fashion sings the exodus of gloomy winter hues and the much anticipated arrival of bright, bold color.

Designers from Dior to Dolce & Gabbana are flooding the runways and magazine spreads with looks borrowed and new, but every look can be made your own.

“These days, it doesn’t take long for runway looks to trickle down into our day-to-day wardrobes,” says Helen Sac, GalTime’s senior editor of prints and graphics.

Bold graphics and prints are spinging into fashion action like never before. Sac recommends accentuating a heavily patterned top with simple bottoms and vice versa. Try pairing solid textured pants or skirts with a graphic monochrome print.

This pair of satin trousers by Forever 21 for $19.80 offers an allover arrowhead print looks casual cool with bright heels or effortless flats. Paired with a solid top, you're ready to spring into style!

You can’t go wrong with a striped boat-neck top for spring, and this favorite is available from Gap for $29.99. Paired with colored skinny jeans, this outfit screams casual chic.

Floral prints are also blooming in 2013, Sac adds. These patterns range from soft and feminine to hyper-real, distorted, flipped and reversed styles. Acidic, tropical colors fit well against darker backgrounds, she says. Be sure to pair bold floral with solid colors.

Forever 21 offers this textured rose print dress for $27.80 – the lace back and trim is just right for spring. A skinny belt, like the one this dress comes with, creates a flattering silhouette by accentuating the smallest part of your waist.

What should you avoid this spring? Sac warns against frumpy, oversized shapes. Opt for sharp, fitted items, like A-line skirts, fitted blouses and ankle-length trousers.

The fitted Oxford shirt should be a staple in everyone’s wardrobe. Rolled at the elbow and paired with crisp pants, jeans or khaki shorts, these shirts can truly be worn anywhere. Old Navy sells them in an array of cheery colors for $22.00.
