Steve Jobs was a marketing genius that took a mediocre company and made it into what it is today. Apple hasn’t always been such a success, but as almost everyone knows, it is a massive and very profitable company now. Although Steve Jobs has done many different marketing strategies in his time, let’s take a look at a few tips we can learn from him.

Inbound Marketing:

Inbound marketing can also be considered as content marketing, it’s a very effective method that has proved to be a major factor for Apple and plenty of other businesses’ success. By submitting content such as blogs, videos, e-books, pod casts as well as mastering search engine optimization, social media marketing, and other forms of inbound marketing. Apple draws people into their site, allowing them to present what they offer and converting people into sales. Although there are a lot of different ways inbound marketing can be done, any business would highly benefit by starting a marketing campaign around some of these ideas.

It is very cost effective when in comparison to other ways of marketing and much more efficient. When a customer is willing to go to a business’s site by choice, they are more willing to buy from them, instead of being forced to watch an advertisement on TV or having pop up ads coming on their screens.

Have a Fantastic Design:

There are always going to be competitors in any industry, so having a design that stands out and grabs people’s attention will really go a long way. Apple has brought out products with new and innovative designs to make their customers fall in love, and as you probably already know, it worked wonders. It’s not like Apple is the only company that provides those types of products, but they offer products that don’t look like the others, which really gives them a boost in converting customers.

Even if you are not selling physical products, you can still design your presentation to make a really good impression on potential customers. If you fail to grab their attention, they might just end up using your competitors service instead, which is obviously a very bad thing to have happen just because you didn’t take the time to make a good design.

Build a Fan Base and Focus on Them:

Apple has some intense fans that will express their love for Apple to anyone. The fans themselves are proud that they own Apple products and spread the word to others about how great they are. Although it might seem hard and time consuming to get a large fan base, there are plenty of ways to do it. Before everything, you must have a product or service that people really do enjoy, because if you don’t, there is no reason they should be a fan. Use the free tools available such as social networking sites, video sharing sites, and other communication sites. These types of websites will really help you connect with people and give you a chance to win their hearts. Once you have a decent amount of fans, they will start to multiply much easier since all of their friends will start joining.

Don’t ignore them once you have won them over, always connect with them and give them special deals. Make them come back to you, give them content that they can really enjoy and would recommend to others. Having fans will also be a great source for feedback, because of the fact they like your company, they will be honest with what you are doing right and what you are doing wrong. This will give you the chance to correct any mistakes or make a product or service that is being asked for.

Carefully Name Your Products and Services:

Having the right name for your products can make them much more desirable and easy to remember. For example, when you are going to look for an MP3 player, you don’t call it a MP3 player, you call it an iPod. Apple was really smart with the name selection for their products, by placing an “i” in front of everything, it’s really easy to remember and know if the product came from Apple.

Any business can implement a good name for their stuff, it might just take some time and though, but it is well worth it in the end. If you are not sure about which name to use or if you have a few in mind, there are companies that specialize in this type of thing. They will bring all the names you have in mind to a focus group and they will all give their opinions. This really helps to see which product name will end up making you more money.

Build up Hype Before Releasing a New Product:

Steve Jobs was a master at building up hype for Apple’s new products. There would be people waiting for hours, if not days, in front of stores just to get a chance at getting their products first. Any business type can use this strategy to have their customers ready and willing to buy as soon as they can. Releasing a product without any previous marketing campaigns can be a really big loss because people always want something that is new, so if you wait too long before you get people to look at the product, it might be too late. Even if what you are offering is a new type of service and not a physical product, making people wait until the official release day will keep them excited about it.

There is an endless amount of tips that can be learned from Steve Jobs and what he did at Apple, but these are just a few to get you started.
