6 Business Books to Read This Summer

6 Business Books to Read This SummerBy Holly Reisem Hanna

Where has this school year gone?! In the next couple of weeks my daughter will be out of school and summer will be upon us. While I have our vacation plans mapped out and my daughter’s camp activities booked — I haven’t had much time for focusing on myself. Fortunately, Amazon makes it so easy to do some quick research that I was able to find some fantastic reads for this summer.

So whether you’ll be traveling the world, lounging by the pool, or enjoying some quiet time at home while the kiddos are off at camp — make sure to stock up on some good books to help cultivate your mind and spirit over the summer months.

Here are 6 books that are on my reading list this summer.

Dale Carnegie – How to Win Friend and Influence People

This has been on my reading list for a long time. It was first published in 1937 and has since sold 15 million copies. Especially in this digital age where personal connections are lost, we can all benefit from Dale’s networking and relationship building techniques. This book gets 4 1/2 stars on Amazon and is only $2.99 for a Kindle copy.

Lois Frankel – Nice Girls Don’t Get Rich: 75 Avoidable Mistakes Women Make with Money

For some reason, this title rubs me the wrong way. Perhaps it’s because I consider myself a nice girl. Anyway …  I was at the book store when I stumbled upon this book. After reading a few of her tips, which were surprisingly good, I decided to come home and download it for myself. This book gets 4 1/2 stars on Amazon and costs $9.99 for a Kindle copy.

Jeff Olson – The Slight Edge: Turning Simple Disciplines into Massive Success and Happiness

After looking at the top business books on Amazon, I couldn’t resist downloading The Slight Edge. Not only does it get 5 Stars, but who doesn’t want to be happier and more successful with small simple steps?! This is a fairly new book, it was published in 2013 and is just $7.39 for a Kindle copy.

Ruth Soukup – How to Blog for Profit (Without Selling Your Soul)

I bought this e-book a few months ago and I can’t recommend it enough if you want to blog for money, or increase your Pinterest influence! Not only does Ruth give a realistic view on what it takes to make it as a monetized blogger, but she shares solid knowledge for maximizing your revenue. Many of the tips were new to me, which was refreshing! Gets 4 1/2 stars on Amazon and sells for $7.99.

Brendon Burchard  – The Charge: Activating the 10 Human Drives That Make You Feel Alive

I ended up buying the hard copy of this book last year, but just now started to read it. In The Charge, Brendon talks about activating ten human drives to make your feel more alive. These drives are your desires for more control, competence, congruence, caring, connection, change, challenge, creative expression, contribution, and consciousness. Receives 4 1/2 stars on Amazon and costs $14.33 for the Kindle edition.

Gary Keller – The ONE Thing The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results

After receiving this book in a swag bag from the MomCom conference in January, I just now picked it up and started reading it. Written by Gary Keller, who is the chairman and co-founder of Keller Williams Realty shares one simply strategy for doing less, yet having more. This book gets 4 1/2 stars on Amazon and has topped numerous best seller lists.
