Interview with Ailsa Walker-Eyre & Alison Corvers of Spoilt Sleeve

Interview Ailsa and AlisonTell us a little bit about Spoilt Sleeve and how it got started.

The Spoilt Sleeve was designed by a close friend of mine in Australia. I moved from the UK to Australia in 2007 and relocated to Canada in 2012. We approached the designer and now manufacture the Sleeve for the Canadian, USA and European markets here in Canada. Alison and I are sisters and best friends in life and she recently moved here to Canada.

Spoilt Sleeve offers a home-based business opportunity for women – tell us more about this.

Many people who have purchased a Sleeve have asked if we offered any opportunities for them to sell to family and friends, so Spoiltsleeveathome.com was born. The Sleeve is a great line to add to existing products women may already have. We have 3 great starter packages so start up costs are minimal. We offer amazing tiered commissions to the consultant and a free Sleeve to the host along with an on the night sales value % in a gift card of their choice to many leading retailers.

What has been the most difficult lesson you have learned as an entrepreneur?

I think the biggest issue we have experienced is being taken advantage of from within the industry. There have been experiences that we have had to encounter and hope to come out the other side stronger. It’s all a learning curve.

What advice would you give to a new entrepreneur on how to build a great business?

Do your research on your niche market. Have an idea of where you want your product to sit, which brands will work with your brand. The more background work you do the more focused on your objectives you will be. Most of all be nice but be strong, and offer GREAT customer service.

How would you rate your success?

We are currently stocked in Boutiques across 20 US States and 3 States within Canada. Our online retail sales began only a few weeks ago and so far so good.  There are many exciting events in the pipeline and each day brings new challenges and rewards.

How do you manage all of your personal and business activities?

I just don’t sleep! It’s hard for sure. Anyone who tells you different either has a personal chef or a 24-hour butler.

I am mum of 3 wonderful children. My special first born Georgia is 16 in a couple of weeks, she is Dyslexic and every day overcomes her own battles and so far she is winning. Mitch is my special only boy; he is extremely academically focused on his future already at 14. He is sports mad and seems to be able to turn his hand to anything. My last, but not least, is my special baby (almost 13 but she will always be my baby) Emi is just like me, strong-willed, confident and goes after what she wants.  While I love my job and my business, none of it would be possible without my amazing kids and my most wonderful husband Chris.

They all pitch in, from pulling orders and helping pack the tradeshow equipment to simply making me a cup of tea.

The Sleeve is amazing. There are millions on women who have issues with upper arm exposure and getting the Sleeve in their hands will revolutionize their wardrobes. If we can take other women on this journey with us then we will…
