Love Entertaining? Work from Home Hosting Food Parties - The Work at Home WomanBy Holly Reisem Hanna

Food, it brings us together, it nourishes our bodies and delights our tastebuds. But did you know that Americans alone spend $478 billion dollars a year on groceries (USDA)?! Now wouldn’t you like to get in on a piece of that action?

If you answered “yes” to the question above, I’ve found the perfect home-based business for you. Last summer I was contacted by Tastefully Simple to work together on a campaign called Project Simplicity. While I’d heard of Tastefully Simple, I had no prior experience with them. Being a foodie myself and an advocate of empowering women to live life on their own terms — I jumped at the opportunity to find out more.

Since that time I’ve been able to experience their culture, products, and business opportunity through a variety of real life experiences. From attending their fall training and product launch, to sampling the food, interviewing consultants, as well as Tastefully Simple’s Founder and CEO herself, … and I have to say, it’s a strong and supportive company with some really delicious products.

The Products:

Tastefully Simple sells gourmet, easy-to-prepare food products from appetizers and desserts to seasonings, sauces, and specialty gift items. Their catalog includes over 80 simple and tasty food items, that can be ready with two ingredients or less (I don’t know about you, but I’m all about simple and delicious)! Products range in price from $1.99 for the Easy Entertaining Recipe Book to $199.00 for the It’s Got It All! Collection, and because food is a consumable good it’s easy to get repeat orders.

To get started with Tastefully Simple you’ll need to purchase a Business Blast Off Kit® which includes everything you need to get started with your very own home-based business. The Business Blast Off Kit® cost $170, or $195 if you live in Alaska, Hawaii or Puerto Rico. In you’re running low on funds, Tastefully Simple offers a payment plan of $56.66 for 3 months or $65.00 for 3 months if you live in Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico. Sometimes they offer specials where you can earn free products and marketing materials if you meet certain milestones. The Business Blast Off Kit® itself is huge. It contains two huge boxes of supplies, including party supplies, display pieces, marketing and training materials, as well as a special gift for new consultants.

How Much You Can Make:

Consultants are able to make money through in home shopping parties, selling products and sponsoring other consultants. On average, consultants sell $410 per party and earn 30% in commission. If you break that down, it’s $123 for a few hours of work. Of course your own personal motivation and how often you host parties will be major factors on how much you earn each month.

Some other perks that Tastefully Simple Consultants receive are a 30% discount on all products and the opportunity to earn free trips and incentives for achieving goals. As with most direct sales companies you join, you will have some recurring costs for party supplies and new products, but these are minimal.

A Reputable Company with Heart:

Of course, before you jump into joining a direct sales company you need to know that they are legit and reputable. Tastefully Simple has an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau and is a member of the Direct Selling Association. They are also a company that has a big heart, “At Tastefully Simple, we believe in giving with gratitude. Since our company began in 1995, we’ve been honored to donate more than $7 million to worthwhile causes and organizations, both locally and nationally.”
